If you're in search of the cheapest rental or purchase price because you're not sure your child will "stick with it", then you are absolutely preparing your child for failure. We could sell or rent a lot more of the cheap no-name brand instruments too, but we have morals.
Cheap instruments make it that much harder to learn, breathe properly and they are notorious for having numerous issues from the beginning. That's why you won't find any warranty on them, or at least none past 60 days, maybe...
Learning something new takes enough work as it is. Lightheadedness and/or mechanical issues are no good for anyone, especially our children.
It is so easy to take advantage of the inexperienced. Every year there are brand new band parents in the learning process. It is easy for a slick dressed salesperson to give you their "personal guarantee" that the instrument you may be purchasing or renting is good for beginners. Anything is better than nothing, is what they are really insinuating. Even if they are willing to fix it for free when something goes wrong. What a hassle!...Ask yourself, "Why aren't they BUSD approved?" There's nothing in it for the teachers, accept less stress on the children they care about.
It is so pleasing to see a child dedicate themselves to learning an instrument. That is why Beaumont and Banning teachers approve us to give your child the best chance at liking to learn to play music. It's easier to want to give up when you have something made of glorified plastic or cheap tin, causing you to breathe or work much harder than necessary.
Too honest? Never! Or else we would't have the good reputation we have. We also have children and are musicians as well as music teachers. We know first hand the importance of having a great student level instrument to learn on. It doesn't even cost a night out at dinner per month.
Rent something you're child and you will be proud of. Better sound, quality, reputable brands and ease of learning. Impress your family, band mates and teacher. Learn better and easier for not much more than low quality junk.
We are a very small Mom and Pop music shop and neighbors to the Beaumont/Banning Community. We ask that all of our neighbors that have rented from us become familiar with the rental policies to avoid ay confusion. Like everything else we do here, communication is key! Please read all of the following:
Payments : All rentals are expected to be paid on time, on your due date, with automatic payments. If a card was lost or stolen, please call us right away or send a Zelle payment to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Returns:Instruments may be brought back without refund of deposit and renter will be charged full commitment if returned early. We ask that all renters make a minimum of a three month commitment. This may be paid up front, or monthly. If returned early, you will be obligated to pay the remainder of the commitment that you have signed to during the rental process.
Insurance & Deposit: The insurance you pay on an instrument protects you from normal wear and tear due to excessive use (scratches, small dings/dents, etc…), and it covers 50 percent of the full MSRP value of the instrument if in the event it becomes lost, stolen, or significantly damaged by anyone. The insurance does not cover damage due to negligence or mishandling or major accidents (such as dropping it or traveling with it outside of its case). It also does not cover cleaning or regulating of an instrument due to mishandling or lack of care. You must clean your instrument regularly and do not let anybody else use or handle your instrument in any way.
Repairs & Maintenance: We are the only ones authorized to make any repairs to your instrument. Repairs vary in price depending on the issue. If we find that any issues are manufacturer warranty issues, your instrument may be replaced by any existing warranties, through us, by the manufacturer. Instruments are required to be cleaned daily in order to get you deposit back.
Rental fees are not to be used as store credit, but solely as credit toward the purchase for the following; alto sax, flute, clarinet, trumpet, cornet, trombone, bell kit, or any other school approved woodwind or brass wind exceeding $800.00.
Theft: When an instrument is not paid for, but still in your possession after numerous attempts to reach you, it is considered stolen. When our neighbors have stolen from us, it puts us in an awkward position. Each and every loss has a major financial impact on us as a very small mom and pop local business, and there is no way to recover these losses through insurance, the government or any other means. So please note, when you steal from us, you are stealing from a family, your neighbors, not a major corporation (not as if that makes it right either). We are honest people that work a 6 day work week over 55 hours a week, so we will do whatever we legally can to recover any losses.
Thank you to all of our friends and neighbors for reading and understanding our simple, reasonable rental policies.
Sincerely – Your Beaumont Music Centre Family
